Academic Integrity Is the Foundation of Honest Education

On October 30, 2026, the Department of Pediatrics-2 at South Kazakhstan Medical Academy JSC held an event on “Anti-Corruption Culture” and “Academic Integrity Is the Foundation of Honest Education.” The event was organized by the department’s teaching staff under the leadership of the Head of the Department, Professor G. E. Bektenova.
The aim of the event was to develop an anti-corruption mindset among residents and students, strengthen the principles of honesty and fairness, and explain the importance of professional ethics and responsibility in medical practice.
During the event, first- and second-year residents and fourth-year students of the Medicine program were informed about the key requirements of the Academic Integrity Code, the Anti-Corruption Policy, the Academic Integrity Standard, and the Internal Regulations.
It was emphasized that academic integrity is an essential prerequisite for high-quality education. The importance of honesty, responsibility, fairness, mutual respect, and trust throughout the educational process was explained.32
Participants were reminded that plagiarism, cheating, providing false information, and using unauthorized aids during examinations and other assessments constitute violations of academic integrity requirements.
The discussion addressed adherence to academic integrity, fairness and responsibility, prevention of all forms of corruption, and compliance with academic discipline.
The department’s teaching staff encouraged students to make honesty and fairness guiding principles throughout their studies and to take responsibility for their knowledge and work.
Students were also urged to observe internal regulations and make their own contribution to promoting an anti-corruption culture.
