Round table on the topic "The place and relevance of teaching biological disciplines in medical education"

On April 21, 2025, a round table on the topic "The place and relevance of teaching biological disciplines in medical education" was held at JSC "South Kazakhstan Medical Academy", organized by the Department of "Chemical Disciplines, Biology and Biochemistry". The event began at 11:00 in auditorium No. 414 of the main building of the academy.
The main objective of the round table was to highlight the importance of biological disciplines in the training of future medical specialists, discuss their place in theoretical education, and exchange opinions on new teaching methods and approaches that meet modern requirements. In addition, the main focus was on strengthening the connection between theoretical and clinical disciplines and creating opportunities for young specialists and teachers to exchange experiences.

The event was opened by the head of the department of "Chemical disciplines, biology and biochemistry", candidate of chemical sciences, professor (acting) Daurenbekov Kanat Narbekovich. In his speech, he particularly emphasized the importance of biological sciences in the development of the medical industry, noting the relevance of the round table. Then the moderator, senior lecturer Asilbekova Gulshahar Kenesbekovna, spoke with a welcoming speech and explained the structure and regulations of the event.

The sectional part of the event covered a number of interesting and informative topics. Asmira Baltabayevna Ordabekova presented a report on the relationship between biological and clinical disciplines, demonstrating ways of integration using specific examples. In turn, Anvar Nizamiddinovich Temirbekov reasonably revealed the basic role of biology in medical education, focusing on the close connection between science and education.

A representative of the Department of Microbiology, Zhanat Erikovna Dzhakupova, gave a report on the microflora of human skin and its importance in the immune defense system. This topic aroused keen interest among the participants of the event.
Also, Gulshahar Kenesbekovna Asilbekova raised the issue of the potential of modern digital technologies in education, including artificial intelligence and multimedia resources, and proposed effective methods for their implementation in the educational process. Aiman Egembergenkyzy Musirova focused on the fundamental role of biological disciplines in the formation of a doctor's professional base, and Dana Tynyshbekovna Azhibaeva-Kupenova presented a substantive report on the influence of these disciplines on the development of students' scientific and clinical thinking.
During the round table, there was an active exchange of opinions between the speakers and participants. Various proposals were voiced regarding the role of biological disciplines in modern medicine, effective teaching methods and practice-oriented learning. At the end of the meeting, the participants agreed on the need to further improve the integration of biological disciplines with clinical ones and expressed their readiness to work together in this direction.

Overall, the round table was informative and very useful from a scientific and educational point of view. The event was attended by more than 20 teachers, a methodologist of the educational and methodological center Aldabergenova Gulzahira Sansyzbaevna, young specialists and employees of the department, who actively shared their thoughts and ideas. The event was an excellent opportunity to obtain new information and exchange experiences. The organizers proposed to hold such meetings on a regular basis.
