International interdepartmental online school on neurology: Russian science day

On February 7, 2024, as part of the celebration of Russian science day, an international interdepartmental online school on neurology was held, organized by the Federal State Budgetary Educational Institution of Higher Education Astrakhan State Medical University of the Ministry of Health of Russia. The event was held in the form of a teleconference between two universities: Astrakhan State Medical University and South Kazakhstan Medical Academy, bringing together specialists and students from Russia and Kazakhstan.
During the event, current issues of diagnosing and treating various neurological diseases were discussed. Leading experts from both countries presented reports covering a wide range of topics, from chronic pain disorders to Duchenne muscular dystrophy. The speakers included representatives from both academies:
• Okroadze Otari, a resident psychiatrist at South Kazakhstan Medical Academy, talked about the challenges of diagnosing and treating chronic somatoform pain disorder.
• Kizaeva Diana, an intern at Astrakhan State Medical University, presented on Neurofibromatosis Type 1.
• Baurzhan Eldar, a resident neurologist from Kazakhstan, discussed spinal muscular atrophy.
• Petykeeva Viktoriya from Astrakhan State Medical University talked about the diagnostic and therapeutic possibilities for Duchenne muscular dystrophy.
• Kalzhan Olzhas, a resident neurologist from Kazakhstan, shared a report on progressive supranuclear palsy.
• Dzeitova Amina, an assistant at Astrakhan State Medical University, touched upon the topic of neonatal spasms syndrome.
The event concluded with an active discussion, during which participants were able to exchange a wealth of useful ideas and recommendations and discuss future directions in neurology and neurosurgery.
The online broadcast of the event was available through a link, allowing a large number of students and specialists to join the discussion.
This event became an important step in strengthening cooperation between educational institutions and knowledge exchange in the medical field, as well as providing an opportunity for young scientists and doctors to share their research with an international audience.
