Current issues in family medicine were discussed

As part of the annual events dedicated to Science Day at the South Kazakhstan Medical Academy, on April 10, 2025, the Department of Family Medicine, in collaboration with the Department of Therapy and Cardiology and City Polyclinic No. 8, held an interdepartmental scientific-practical conference titled “Topical Issues of Family Medicine.”
The scientific conference was conducted in three languages: Kazakh, English, and Russian. A total of 16 presentations were delivered, 4 of which were in English.
The moderator of the conference, Head of the Department of Family Medicine, Candidate of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor Zh.A. Kauyzbay, after a brief welcome speech, gave the floor to the honored guests of the event: Manager of the Scientific Research Sector of SKMA, Maidan Nagashybayevich Mukhamediarov; Deputy Chief Physician of City Polyclinic No. 8, Albina Asylbekovna Izbasarova; Dean of Internship and Graduate Employment, PhD Kanatzhan Saukanbekovich Kemelbekov; and Head of the Department of Therapy and Cardiology, Candidate of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor Galiya Kutumbetovna Asanova.
Following the official opening, Deputy Chief Physician of City Polyclinic No. 8, Albina Asylbekovna Izbasarova, delivered an in-depth presentation titled “HPV Vaccination: What Specialists Need to Know.” The next speaker, Head of the Department of Family Medicine, Candidate of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor Zhumaly Aripbayuly Kauyzbay, presented on the topic “Metabolic Syndrome in Family Physician Practice.” Head of the Department of Therapy and Cardiology, Candidate of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor Galiya Kutumbetovna Asanova, delivered a report on “Hemodynamic Changes in Patients with CHF and Concomitant CKD.”
The speakers presented their well-prepared presentations in honor of Science Day, addressing currently relevant diseases. They thoroughly explored each topic, discussed symptoms, diagnosis formulation, and emphasized modern treatment approaches based on the latest clinical protocols. Each presentation concluded with an active Q&A session between the conference participants and general practitioners of Polyclinic No. 8, during which physicians shared their experiences and insights.
At the end of the conference, three prize-winning places were awarded, and all participants received certificates of appreciation.
The main goal and objectives of the conference were to facilitate the exchange of theoretical and practical experience in the field of scientific research on current medical issues among interns, residents, teaching staff, and general practitioners; to enhance the research knowledge and skills of students; to broaden the general and specialized scientific outlook of educators and practicing physicians; and to preserve intergenerational continuity among medical professionals.
