On November 3–4, a training session entitled “Institutionalization of Academic Integrity in Higher and (or) Postgraduate Education Institutions” was held at the South Kazakhstan Medical Academy (SKMA).
The event aimed to strengthen the culture of academic integrity, improve internal mechanisms for ensuring the quality of education, and establish a common understanding of academic integrity principles among all participants in the educational process.
The training was attended by representatives of SKMA’s senior management, academic and teaching staff, administrative and managerial personnel, quality assurance services, academic offices, dean’s offices, as well as human resources and IT departments.
The training was conducted by Nurgul Nurlan, Head of the Project Office of the League of Academic Integrity and League expert, and Inna Mikhailovna Dzhemaledinova, an expert of the League.

Over the course of two days, participants discussed modern approaches to institutionalizing academic integrity, the role of university management and structural divisions in fostering an ethical academic environment, as well as measures to prevent violations in educational and research activities. Particular attention was paid to developing an internal culture of responsibility, ensuring transparency in procedures, and adhering to ethical standards.
As part of the training, participants explored mechanisms for integrating academic integrity principles into the activities of higher and postgraduate education institutions. They shared professional experiences, discussed current challenges and possible solutions, and received practical recommendations for improving internal policies and procedures.
The event served as an effective platform for open dialogue between representatives of educational institutions and experts from the League of Academic Integrity. This format of interaction helps develop common approaches to preventing academic misconduct and improving the quality of the educational process.

Upon completion of the training, participants were awarded certificates. The award ceremony was attended by Almaz Nurgaliuly Nurgali, Deputy Head of the Department of the Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan for Civil Service Affairs in Shymkent.
The South Kazakhstan Medical Academy pays special attention to upholding the principles of academic integrity and consistently supports initiatives aimed at improving the quality of education, fostering a responsible attitude towards learning and research activities, and strengthening trust among all members of the academic community.

Organizing such events contributes to creating an open, fair, and responsible educational environment in which academic integrity is not merely a mandatory requirement but also a fundamental value of university culture.
